The World Health Organization (WHO) Global action plan on the public health response to dementia 2017–20251 aims to improve the lives of people with dementia and their carers,2 while decreasing the impact of dementia on communities and countries. Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) calls on the international community, in advance of the G7 and G20 planned for 2021, to recognise the growing inequality between different regions of the world in dementia prevention, diagnosis, treatment, care and support.

Mots-outils:RapportTags : ADI Rapport Organisation Mondial de la Santé Maladie d'Alzheimer Résumé : Dementia is the seventh leading cause of death in the world,1 yet access to information, services, support, and care is deeply uneven – especially for people with dementia living in low- and middle-income countries, despite them making up nearly two-thirds of cases.
Dementia is a growing issue globally: The number of people living with dementia – estimated to stand at 55 million in 2019 – is expected to rise to 139 million in 2050, according to most recent WHO figures. The costs associated with dementia, meanwhile, are expected to rise from US$1.3 trillion per year in 2019 to $2.8 trillion dollars by 2030.

Mots-outils:RapportTags : ADI Rapport Organisation Mondial de la Santé Maladie d'Alzheimer Résumé : As the seventh leading cause of death in the world, dementia remains a deeply neglected and underserved health condition globally. Often repeated is the World Health Organization (WHO) statistic predicting that the number of cases of dementia in the world will rise from 55 million in 2019 to 139 million by 2050. If little is done by then, the situation will only get worse for people living with dementia and their families, who already struggle to get timely diagnosis, accurate information, and adapted support.
