On 7 March 2001, Alzheimer Europe held its 3rd Forum at the European Parliament in Brussels on "Equality of Access to care and treatment". This forum was dedicated ti highlighting the barriers wich exist preventing people with dementia and their cares from having equal access to services and treatment options. These proceedings contain the various speeches from the forum focusing on three main subjects :
- The obstacle course from the first symptoms of dementia to a diagnosis and adequate services.
- How are the needs of special groups of people with dementia and their carers taken into account in Europe.
- Availability of anti-dementia drugs in the European Union : an example of inequalities between European citizens. |
